Iron butterfly - In-a-gadda-da-vida - 1968

Actually they wanted to call the record In the garden of Eden, but, being high, they were somewhat vague in their pronunciation, or so the story goes. The song is a classic, because it's very long (17 minutes) presumably, not because it's very good. Over a quite simple vamp everybody gets a chance to solo, even if they are not really capable of playing the instrument in the first pace. The guitar playing is very decent however, especially the solo part. The singing is horrible, a bit like Engelbert Humperdinck with one too many beers: a posh deep baritone, totally misplaced here. Oh I know: it's the best song on the album. So on the rerelease, let's put a live version (19 minutes) and the single version (3 minutes) on it.
