Vampire Love in Chains is a wonderful heartfelt romance between an ordinary girl (Natali) and the ellusive Mikhaël. The story describes how the two met each other and how Natali comes to terms with Mikhaël's true nature. Specifically the way the author takes into account the great difficulties of a mixed nature relationship and the struggle of the two characters of how they learn to work with each others weaknesses, makes it more realistic than any other of its type on the market.
The side characters are worth mentioning too. Jeremy, the homosexual vampire, is a fresh breath in the land of secundary characters and his Jewish background makes for a fascinating read. Violet, Natali's best friend, is a wise and well-thinking friend who seems to understand Natali's wishes better than Natali does. I also like how Violet reacts realistically to Natali's revelation (I won't spoil it, but it's truly divine!)
Some critics berave the sadomasochistic undertones of the story. But I thought that the theme of having to chain and perhaps even forgoe one's masculinity in order to truly appreciate your feminine half was quite well expressed in the subtext of Vampirism.
