One of the most perfect films ever made. A wonderious movie with clever moments, wonderful character's and a true sense of fantasy. A rarity in films as its truly unpredictable and totally original, theres nothing else like it.
While you could crudely categorize this film as romantic comedy, that would miss the whole point of the film. It is witty, and it is quite romantic, but the bulk of the film is purely about the character of Amelie and how she effects those around her. The real genera of this film is probably closer to Fantasy; Partly due to Amelie's imagination and how she sees the world, And partly to do with the incredible, yet subtle, events that happen throughout the film. It also touches on chaos theory, the idea that small actions can result in big effects. (allthough not as much as, say, Run Lola Run) I must confess to falling in love with the character's and being a tad sad when the film ended. However, like almost all reviews of this film have said, it does leave you grinning and will probably inspire you to do quirky things yourself :)
It would be nice to see a sequel sometime, not because the story needs it, but simply because it would be nice to see the character again. It will probably never happen. Only cliched American characters get sequels. Overall, A clever, yet subtle film that manages to have much more impact emotionally then many Hollywood films put together.
Pure joy from start to finish.
Plus, Audrey is really cute ;) ,
