A masterpiece beyond measure.
Probably, at the time of writing, the greatest game ever made.If not, the best entertainment value of any creative work ever.
Hyperbole? maybe, but its the feeling it gives.
The game non-stop chucks new experiences at you, you can do more in this game then in practically any other. You fight, ride, byte, fly, fish, and that's just getting started. Theres lots of "wow" moments, it has the strongest told story of any Zelda yet, it has by far the best secondary character. Its at least 65 hours long, 64 of which was pure joy for me.
Of course, despite this, its not perfect. The town folk could have more to say, and the large environment could be less broken up to give a better impression of scale. Also, the first time you fish, its not at all clear. (however, this gets MUCH better later). Perhaps the biggest criticism of the game is simply that it isn't such a big leap up as Ocarina. Twilight Princess is a logical evolution from Ocarina...better...but not drastically revolutionary like Ocarina of Time was from Lttp. It has more new items, more dungeons, better dungeons, better story, graphics, sound...but nothing *really* groundbreaking.Ã Â
Perhaps because of this the game didn't get the praise it deserved. It didn't have a new style to hide be hide like TWW either. Either way, this is a MUST PLAY for ALL adventure fans. You wont find a game more packed with pure adventure game play, nor one with such fractual detail and diversity of play types.
