Swamp dog – Total destruction of your mind – 1971

I like the name of the singer (composer, arranger, producer, he’s an early Prince, if you ask me). I also like the title of the album, wit that summer of love / Woodstock state of mind. Happy to report that I also like the music: it’s generally easy going rhythm ‘n’ blues with soul overtones.

Lyrics tend to be somewhat political (Redneck, These are not my people) or relationship oriented (If I die tomorrow, I’ve lived tonight, Mama’s baby, daddy’s maybe, Everything you’ll ever need), but they are nog what you should love him for. Not a philosopher by any means. But the music is catchy, funny, creative and funky, and Swamp dogg is tha man!
