Rolling Stones – The London Years - 1987

If you buy one cd by The Rolling Stones you are crazy. If you buy 2 you are crazy. In fact, if you buy anything less than 6 or 7 cd’s by the Stones you’re way too selective and should not consider yourself a serious modern music collector. However, if you buy less than 20 cd’s by the Stones, and include some of their well crafted later works (Some girls, Voodoo lounge) you need to buy this compilation: it includes just about every single from 1963 till 1969, rightly considered their classic period. I won’t discuss individual songs, because that would make me silly, something I try to avoid at all cost. Besides, it’s the sheer amount of good material and the variety that counts. You think they were / are a blues band that popularized (and commercialized) American blues musicians? Think again: they have their share of pop music, country and western music, psychedelic music, straight hard rock and some great ballads. Essential listening!
