The Other Ones – The strange remain – 1998

The Other ones are actually the last incarnation of The Grateful Dead, after Jerry Garcia, nominal leader, had died in 1995. The title may refer to the fact that with him the norma Dead members had all gone, but I doubt it.

Old songs in somewhat new jackets and some new songs, of which Only the strange remain and Banyan tree are good, Baba Jingo and Rainbow’s Cadillac are OK and White wheeled limousine sucks.

St Stephen, Sugaree and China cat sunflower are better than could be expected without guitar work and singing by Jerry, but The other one and Friend of the devil are kind of lame. However, there are Grateful Dead concerts available that are worse, so we should not complain.
