Eno – Taking tiger mountain (by strategy) - 1976

Eno is known for his role as a producer (Bowie, U2, Paul Simon and many others). Eno is known for his ambient music, a genre he helped invent (Music for airports etc). Some people may know he was actually once a part of Roxy Music. Many people do not know that Eno made some very sophisticated pop music in the middle of the 70’s.

Taking tiger mountain (by strategy) is one of those: weird, sometimes downright silly, sometimes overly ambitious in scope, but on the whole very, very catchy, with a little twist. In fact, most of these songs sound like they somehow had to exist. They may not sell (they did hardly), they sound off-beat, you often think: this song would have been a major hit if someone else sang it, it was speeded up a little and the instrumentation was toned down to match pop music of the day. Abba could have done wonders with this material. Still, this is your chance to get a slice of British talent at his best.
